Jennifer September 10th, 2011

I’m not planning on having this as my regular diet routine, just for today

Are diet pills dangerous for teenagers?

Jennifer September 2nd, 2011

I’m 17 years old, will be 18 in March. I’ve been taking the pill Hydroxycut for a few weeks, and now i’m up to 5 pills a day. I’m not actually overweight or anything, I use it as an appetite suppressant so I don’t eat over 1100 calories or so a day. Do diet pills actually work for weight loss, or do they have bad side effects to them?

Does "Sensa" actually work?

Jennifer May 29th, 2011

Hi, I turned 15 a couple of months ago, and I’ve struggled with my weight since I was 13.
I used to be on the swim team, and I was very fit. Everyday I would swim over a mile in the pool, and twice a week the rest of the swim team and I had to do bleacher miles on the football stadiums.
Anyway, I had an accident where a fell, pretty high up, and shattered my right leg. I had an operation where a metal plate was screwed into my right leg to keep the bones together, and pins placed in my ankle.

Because of that surgery, I now have limitations to my exercise. Yes, I can still run, which I do often (I don’t enjoy *running* too much, but I love the feeling after wards… Being tired and getting my energy out) since I’m on the dance team. Unfortunately, after I run, my ankle hurt so bad it hurts to walk on it. Sometimes I randomly get pain from the side of my leg (where the metal plate is) but it eventually fades away.

I used to weigh 113 pounds, and a few about 6 months after my accident, my weight shot up to 140 pounds! Last summer, I went on a fruit and veggie diet, which worked really well! I was able to drop my weight down to 133 (even at night, when your weight is the heaviest!) and my pants and clothing were looser. It didn’t make me feel depressed or hungry, in fact, my appetite went away. The only problem with that is I don’t like feeling restricted. If I ate one thing, I’d gain a pound or two. I don’t like living like that.

My mom told me about this website called Sparks people, and told me that I needed to eat 1800 calories a day (versus the 900 that I was eating). Well, thanks to their advice, I’ve gained 4 more pounds. My weight now resides at 144. So now, I am officially overweight… By 2 pounds. Even if I weren’t overweight, I don’t like being chubby. My arms and legs are chubby and I just feel dirty because of it. I’m going to Japan as a foreign exchange student, so I want to be SLIM. (by the way, I didn’t eat junk food to get the 1800 calories, I just ate more fruit or more food at dinner time).

This summer, I want to run in the morning and swim in the afternoon. I want to be SLIM though so bad! I want to be fit, but a slim body is really what I want! So, will Sensa work? In the before-and-after photos, the people are always very slim.
Sorry for the grammatical errors. I didn’t catch them until I re-read the description. I typed really fast, and it’s quite late. Please ignore it!

What is the best weight loss supplement/diet pill?

Jennifer April 26th, 2011

Assuming someone is eating healthy and exercising, what is the best diet pill to aid in weight loss?
As I said, I already do as much exercise as I can (long story) and actually eat below the recommended calories a day, and balanced meals. It’s not a case of lack of exercise or improper eating habits.

How did fat burners work for YOU?

Jennifer January 23rd, 2011

Before I start….I am on a strict and healthy diet and exersize plan. I usually eat just under 1200 calories a day and I take multi vitamins. I exersize 1 and sometimes 2 hours a day and 3 times a week I go to the gym and use those giant machines for arms, back, legs, core ect…blahblahblah.

basically I know this fat burner isn’t going to be a magic pill and will be counterproductive if I dont exersize.
I have never really used a fat burner before…I took one a long time ago but I never had time to exersize and diet properly so i stopped after the first week. everything I do is based on keeping my metabolism going constantly.

now I am using lipo 6 the right way…and Im curious how did they work for you???

i dont mean to sound rude or mean spirited but, I dont want awnsers from people who dont exersize and eat right while you are taking them.

thanks!

How to approach my Japanese doctor about this?

Jennifer January 15th, 2011

I know this is a little off category, but I think you nice people at the Japan forum will be able to give me the best advice on how to approach this.

Ive been on a diet for the last 2 months or so, and Im failing to lose weight, despite really, really gambatte-ing, giving up alcohol and burning many more calories than I consume on a daily basis. I want to go to my doctor to ask him or her what I need to do, and also to rule out a medical cause.

First of all – what kind of doctor should I be seeing about this? Im going to a big hospital, not a diet clinic, so what doctor would be best? If you could tell me this in Japanese it would be helpful.

Second of all do any of you guys have any idea about how to approach this issue.
I know that the doctor is almost definitely going to think Im a fat gaijin who sits on the sofa eating chocolate every day, but Im not. I want to be taken seriously because Im really, really struggling. Its really hard to be this size in Japan, and its got to the point where even my inlaws agree that I am "kawaii sou" because they can SEE how hard Im trying and that nothing is happening.

Any sincere advice would be appreciated. I have already replaced one meal a day with konnyaku or shirataki … :)
sorry I should add I AM and have been exercising too.
Im doing 40 minutes a day cycling (in the mama charie with my 14kg kid) plus walking everywhere that I used to cycle – Ie around town, to the supermarket, which is adding up to about another hour a day.

Its just really depressing how slowly its going … Especially surrounded by all these skinny Japanese girls who eat about double what I do.
