Is it alright to bring about 200 tea packets in checked luggage from Japan to America?

Hi, in about 5 days I will be flying to USA from Japan. Is it alright to bring tea packets? There are about… 30 tea packets in each little plastic bag, and there are 7 plastic bags. They are labeled either "Dokudami" or "Diet" by the manufacturer. Is it okay to bring these through checked luggage? Do you think that they will question what it is? I have the 2 of the boxes (one dokudami, one diet) that the plastic bags came in.

    It’s no problem.

    It’s okay with several qualifiers.

They should be in their original cases. If not, they could be anything. That might be a problem.

The other potential problem is contents – what’s in the tea? Japan has their own laws on legal substances. Real tea is no problem but other ingredients might be.

However, if it’s not drugs, the worse that could happen is they’d take them away from you.
